The Lubricator provides the downhole tool string with a pressure buffer zone and a transition zone through which the instrument passes. According to the needs of the site, multiple Lubricators can be connected in series.
The Wireline Lubricator with Threaded Union is made up of sections of tubing material threaded on both ends to accept Quick Unions. It consists of 4 basic parts: a quick union collar, a male quick union, a lubricator tube, and a female quick union. This type of Lubricator is usually recommended service in working pressure≦10000Psi.
During Slickline operations, three Lubricator sections are normally used, each having a different ID, the uppermost section having the smallest, then opening out to the lower section with largest ID.
During the Wireline operations the Lubricators normally have the same ID. Generally, it requires the total length of Lubricator sections at least 1000 mm longer than downhole string tool.
An optional Bleed-off Port may be incorporated into the lubricator assembly. This involves a ported NPT-1/2” sub between the Lubricator tube and the bottom Quick Union.
