Upper Sheave & Lower Sheave

The Upper Sheave and Lower Sheave are wire guiding device which apply with wireline ( braided line ) from 3/16”~15/32”. Normally, the diameter of the sheave is differ in different size wireline. The larger the wire diameter, the larger the sheave diameter.

The Upper Sheave is lifted directly above the Wireline PCE string. The Lower Sheave is generally positioned beside the wellhead to reduce side pull force and to avoid lateral loading of the lubricator during heavy jarring operations. The wireline pass through the Upper Sheave lifted by the crane and Lower Sheave connect to the Wireline Unit, which can control the wireline tools running into or pulling out from the well.

The Upper Sheave applied in wireline operation is differ with the slickline operation. The Upper Sheave is lifted by a crane in wireline operation instead of installed on the Stuffing Box in slickline operation. The Lower Sheave assembled with a floor stand is fixed on the floor by a chain. This is similar to one type of Hay Pully in slickline operation.
