Hydraulic Jar

Hydraulic Jar is a wireline service tool designed for dependable upward jarring during wireline operations.When a strain is taken on the wireline the top sub and mandrel are pulled upward while the piston is impeded in its upward movement by the hydraulic fluid. This delaying action allows sufficient strain to be taken on the line to strike a below of the required intensity. When the piston passes from the restricted cylinder bore to the enlarged section, fluid resistance ceases allowing the mandrel to travel upward at great speed to strike the middle body insert and transmit the jarring force. The Jar is closed for repeat operation by slacking off Tool String weight as many times as necessary to complete the operation.
Normally, Hydraulic Jar should be run above a set of Spang Jars.
